Apex Legends ranks in order, Rookie to Apex Predator

Apex Legends has eight ranks: Rookie, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master and Apex Predator. The first six are split into four divisions each, Master starts at a fixed 16,000 RP, and Predator isn't a rank you reach with points at all: it's the top 750 Master players on your platform.

This guide covers every Apex rank in order, the RP you need for each division, what each match costs to enter, how Master and Predator work, and where most players actually end up, with the latest rank distribution. Season 32 adds new ranks in early 2027; there's a short section on that at the end.

Every Apex Rank and the RP You Need

You climb by earning Ranked Points (RP). Each rank from Rookie to Diamond has four divisions, climbed from IV up to I, and every division needs more RP than the one below it. Every match also costs RP to enter, and that cost rises with your rank.

RankIVIIIIIIEntry cost per match
Rookie02505007500 RP
Bronze1,0001,5002,0002,50010 RP

Diamond12,00013,00014,00015,00065 RP
Master16,000+ (no divisions)90 RP
Apex PredatorTop 750 Master players per platform90 RP

The gaps grow as you climb: a Bronze division is 500 RP, a Gold division 750, and from Platinum II onwards every division is 1,000 RP. Entry costs grow faster still, from 20 RP a match in Silver to 65 in Diamond. That combination is why most players feel the climb slow down around Platinum.

Your rank is tracked per platform. PlayStation 4 and 5 count as one platform, but your PC and console ranks are separate, so you can be Gold on one and Diamond on the other.

Rookie: the starting rank

Rookie is an introductory tier for new ranked players, and it has no entry cost. Once you climb out of it, you can't be placed back in it.

Gold and Platinum: where the climb gets real

Gold entry costs jump to 38 RP, and Platinum to 48. From here, finishing low in a match regularly costs you RP, so placing well matters as much as fighting. Stuck at this stage? Our guide on why you're stuck in Plat covers the habits that hold most players back.

Diamond: the wall

Diamond starts at 12,000 RP, every division is 1,000 RP, and every match costs 65 RP. It's the rank where the most players stop climbing, which the distribution further down shows clearly.

How Apex Ranked Points Work

Every ranked match starts by taking your entry cost. You win RP back from three things: where your squad places, your kills, and a few bonuses. Finish in the top half of the lobby and you'll usually earn back more than you paid; finish low and you lose RP.

  • Placement. The higher your squad finishes out of 20 teams, the more RP you get.
  • Kills and assists. Each kill or assist counts as one kill. A kill your team gets without your damage counts as half a kill. Every kill is worth more the higher you place, and after eight kills each extra one is worth half.
  • Challenger bonus. Killing a player in a higher rank than yours earns extra RP, and the bonus grows with the rank gap.
  • Top 5 streak. Two top-five finishes in a row earn +10 RP, three +20, four +30, and five or more +40 per game.

Heals and revives earn no RP. The fastest way up is the boring one: survive into the final circles, and take fights that won't end your game early, since every kill is worth more the longer you live.

If you'd rather skip the grind, an Apex rank boost puts a Predator on your account to climb to the RP you pick.

Master and Apex Predator

Master starts at 16,000 RP and has no divisions: from there, it's just your RP total against everyone else's. Every match costs 90 RP to enter, the highest of any rank.

Apex Predator is the top 750 Master players on each platform (PC, PlayStation and Xbox each have their own ladder). There's no fixed RP number for it. The Pred cutoff is whatever RP the 750th player has right now, and it keeps rising through the split as the top players keep playing. You can drop out of Predator if enough players pass you.

That's why "how much RP for Predator?" has no single answer. Our Pred cutoff tracker shows today's number for each platform.

How high does it get? Since Season 20, the final PC cutoff has ended anywhere between about 24,000 and 66,500 RP, depending on the split. And the Predator badge only goes to players who are in the top 750 when the split ends, not to anyone who touched Predator once. Our guide to every Apex Predator badge has the final cutoff for every split since Season 12 and the full badge rules.

How Long Each Climb Takes

How long a climb takes depends mostly on skill, not hours. For reference, here's how long each climb takes a Predator booster, from the estimated completion times in our rank boost builder, next to what usually stops regular players at that stage.

Apex Rank Distribution

Where most players end up depends on when you look. Early in a split, most players sit in Silver and Gold. By the end, the active players have climbed into Platinum and Diamond, and Diamond becomes the most crowded rank of all.

Apex Legends rank distribution in August and October 2026: Diamond is the most crowded rank by the end of a split

In October 2026, late in Season 30, Diamond IV put you in roughly the top 40% of active players, Master in the top 3.2%, and Predator in the top 0.5%. Respawn no longer publishes official rank distribution, so these figures come from players tracked by Apex Legends Status, compiled monthly by Esports Tales.

The pile-up in Diamond is the wall in action: 1,000 RP per division and a 65 RP entry cost stop most players there. It's also why Respawn is adding an Emerald rank between Platinum and Diamond in Season 32.

Ranked Splits, Rank Resets and Rewards

Every season has two ranked splits, and your RP resets at the start of each one.

At the start of a season, you're placed in a rank that matches your hidden skill rating (MMR), not the RP you ended with. New ranked players are placed using their Unranked Trios skill instead.

At the mid-season split, everyone drops by a fixed amount:

Rank before the splitReset to
Bronze IV to IBronze IV, 1,000 RP
Silver IV to ISilver IV, 3,250 RP
Gold IV to IGold IV, 5,500 RP
Platinum IV to IPlatinum IV, 8,750 RP
Diamond IV and IIIPlatinum III, 9,250 RP
Diamond II and IPlatinum II, 10,000 RP
Master and PredatorPlatinum I, 11,000 RP

Silver, Gold and Platinum resets come with 250 RP of demotion protection, so one bad game doesn't drop you a rank straight away.

When to climb: the first days after a reset are the easiest climbing of the split. Everyone has just dropped, so lobbies are full of players below their real level. If you only have a few good sessions per split, play them right after the reset.

Ranked rewards

At the start of the next season, you get the rewards for the highest rank you reached in either split. If you match your split 1 rank in split 2, your season badge is animated; if not, you get the regular version.

In matches, your rank shows as an Aura: grey for Rookie, bronze, silver and gold for those ranks, teal for Platinum, blue for Diamond, purple for Master and red for Predator.

Playing ranked with friends

Everyone in a premade ranked squad has to be within two ranks of each other. A Bronze player can queue with Rookie, Silver and Gold friends, but not with anyone in Platinum or higher.

What Changes in Season 31 and Season 32

The ranks above stay the same through Season 31. Respawn has announced changes in two steps.

Season 31 (from November 3, 2026) keeps the same ranks but changes how matches work:

  • Legend bans in every match with Diamond or higher players.
  • A Lobby Tier for each match: squads two or more ranks below it pay a lower entry cost, squads two or more ranks above it pay more.
  • Road to Ranked challenges are gone; ranked unlocks at account level 20 again.
  • Demotion protection now shows on screen, with three shields before you drop a rank.

Season 32 (early 2027) rebuilds the rank ladder into nine ranks:

#Ranks now (Season 30 and 31)Ranks from Season 32
1RookieIron (replaces Rookie)
2BronzeBronze
3SilverSilver
4GoldGold
5PlatinumPlatinum
6DiamondEmerald (new, 4 divisions)
7Master (no divisions)Diamond
8Apex Predator (top 750 Master)Master (now 4 divisions)
9Grandmaster (new top rank; Predator = top 750 at season end)

Iron to Emerald becomes the Open League, and Diamond to Grandmaster the Pro-Am League. Predator stays a leaderboard title: the top 750 Grandmaster players at the end of the season. RP scoring also changes, with flat values for kills and placement and every team kill counting for the whole squad.

We'll update this guide when Season 32 launches. For the full breakdown of both seasons, read our Apex ranked changes for Season 31 and 32.
